The Castro is GAY. It's sleazy, sweet, campy, nasty, loud, tourist trash, silly, and poignant. Mostly gay. Really gay. And so am I. I was very often in The Castro when I lived in San Francisco. I was a gogo boy at Castro bars, and a member of Castro AA. Sometimes in the same evening. My time in the Castro helped me shed my internalized homophobia and to love the rainbow.
