My paintings explore heritage, memory, and the places that live inside us. Lush oil on wood, tropical color, and fluid brushwork evoke the emotional landscapes of identity. Prints now available — bring a piece of story and soul into your space.
For a year of my time in New York, I lived in a great apartment in Bed Stuy off the J train. At the time, I used to get my hair braided at this little salon off Broadway that felt like someone's living room. It was colorful and there were Nigerian soap operas on the tv and they were mean to me when I first came, (fair), and I loved going there. It's a silly thing for a white hipster to feel content getting painfully tight cornrows in a cottage full of African ladies, but it's part of my story, and my appreciation for African craft, color, and community.
